John Alfieris focuses his practice on workers’ compensation defense, representing and counseling insurance carriers, employers, self-insureds and others throughout South Carolina to efficiently and cost-effectively resolve disputes.

Prior to joining HPLP, Alfieris served as an attorney for a large insurance defense law firm, where he managed the various business and legal aspects of his clients’ complex workers’ compensation claims. Before joining a firm, Alfieris served as a law clerk to the Honorable John C. Hayes, III, of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit of South Carolina

Outside of the office, he enjoys hunting, fishing, playing tennis and cheering on his beloved Clemson Tigers.

Brooks Biediger

Brooks Biediger is a member of HPLP’s litigation and workers’ compensation defense team in the Columbia office, representing employers, insurers and self-insureds in a wide array of industries.

Prior to joining HPLP, Brooks served as Deputy Director for the Insurance Fraud Division at the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.  Before the Attorney General’s Office, Brooks spent five years representing a wide variety of clients at a West Columbia law firm.

Brooks earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of South Carolina.  He is a member of numerous professional and community organizations, including the South Carolina Bar Association, the Richland County Bar Association, the Lexington Medical Center Foundation, and the United Way of the Midlands Young Leaders Society.

A native South Carolinian, Brooks enjoys spending time on Lake Murray with his wife, Hallie, playing golf, and cheering on his South Carolina Gamecocks.

Anna Bullington

bullington-5As a member of the firm’s civil litigation team, Anna L. Bullington represents clients involved in real estate, business, and construction law litigation. She is admitted to practice in South Carolina and all state and federal courts in Georgia.

Before joining HPLP, Anna practiced law in Macon, Georgia, where she specialized in eminent domain and condemnation litigation for the Georgia Department of Transportation. Her experience in handling complex real estate matters is uniquely valuable in helping clients obtain favorable results in a wide variety of commercial and residential property disputes. Anna also represents individuals and companies of all sizes in business-related matters, from new business formation to litigation of contract disputes.

Outside of work, Anna enjoys spending time at home in Greenville with her husband and their Maltese, Lucy.

Barrett Burley

The manager of HPLP’s Columbia, S.C., office, Barrett Burley focuses on handling the comprehensive workers’ compensation defense needs of insurance carriers, employers, self-insureds, third party administrators and government entities throughout South Carolina.

Barrett graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree before earning a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He formerly served on the Bar Convention Board of the South Carolina Bar Association and is a member of the Richland County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association.

An IPTAY representative for Richland County and member of the Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Barrett is active in his community and additionally serves as an advocate for the Clemson Alumni Association and Columbia Museum of Art. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Julia, and his two sons. Barrett also has a passion for golf and Clemson athletics.

Regan A. CobbRegan A. Cobb brings a wealth of experience to HPLP’s Charleston Workers’ Compensation team as she has worked exclusively in the field of Workers’ Compensation Defense since 2001. Regan represents employers, insurance carriers and third party administrators in multiple industries. She is also a Certified Circuit Court Mediator.

With her vast knowledge and experience, Regan often provides lectures, seminars, and training on current issues that impact those in the field of Workers’ Compensation. Before gaining 17 years of experience in the field of Workers’ Compensation Defense, Regan was a Solicitor for the Fifth Judicial Circuit.

Regan resides in the Charleston area and enjoys spending her time with her family, with her 2 dogs, and rooting for her Gamecocks.

Thomas Haffey

Thomas Haffey concentrates his representation on workers’ compensation defense in HPL+P’s Charleston, S.C. office. Haffey graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina School of Law. While in law school, he was an Articles Editor for the ABA Real Property, Trust, and Estate Law Journal and worked as a research assistant for Professors Alan S. Medlin and Stephen A. Spitz.

Prior to attending law school, Haffey served as an EMT and professional firefighter for the City of Charleston. He and his wife Codee currently reside in Mount Pleasant, S.C., where he enjoys spending time on the water and roughhousing with his two pets – Reggie and Murphy.

Stokely Holder focuses his diverse civil litigation practice on representing clients in the areas of commercial, construction, business and real estate law, as well as commercial collections. He is currently admitted to practice law in both the State Court of South Carolina and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina.

Holder previously served as a partner with a Greenville-based civil litigation firm after first beginning his legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Edward W. Miller of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit of South Carolina.

Holder is member of numerous civic and charitable organizations. He is also on the Board of Directors for Holder Electric Supply, Inc., as well as the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Governor’s Cup Billfishing Series through the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. He is an active participant in numerous wildlife and fishing conservation associations and is a former Vice President and President of the Greenville Saltwater Sportfishing Club.

A Greenville native, Holder enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He and his family are members of First Baptist Church Greenville, and he is also an avid outdoorsman with a passion for saltwater fishing, hunting and golf.

Timothy B. KillenTim Killen practices exclusively in workers’ compensation defense in HPLP’s Charleston, S.C. office. In the past, he served as in-house counsel for South Carolina state government agencies in workers’ compensation matters and has defended private employers, insurance carriers, and third party administrators.

Prior to practicing law, Killen served his country as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard. He is a current resident of Edisto Island, S.C., where he enjoys spending time with his two children.

William T. LittlejohnA leader of HPLP’s workers’ compensation defense practice, and manager of the firm’s Charleston, S.C. office, William Littlejohn represents insurance carriers, self-insureds, third-party administrators and government entities across a variety of industries that include construction, forestry, hospitality & service, healthcare, and staffing.

Littlejohn previously served as an attorney with a large, South Carolina-based insurance defense firm, gaining extensive experience handling every phase of workers’ compensation litigation, from settlement negotiations to hearing and appeals before the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission. Prior to joining a firm, he researched and drafted complex legal opinions as a law clerk for the Honorable Daniel F. Pieper of the South Carolina Court of Appeals.

A native North Carolinian and avid Tar Heels fan, Littlejohn has been a longtime resident of the Charleston area and resides in Mount Pleasant, S.C., with his wife and two daughters.

David M. Padgett

David Padgett leads the firm’s workers’ compensation defense practice in the Greenville, S.C. office, representing and advising employers, insurers and self-insureds in all aspects of litigation, including mediation, subrogation and appeals.

Prior to the foundation of HPLP, Padgett served as an attorney for a large South Carolina-based insurance defense firm, where he practiced exclusively in the area of workers’ compensation defense and gained experience handling coverage matters, as well as multi-party and medically complex claims.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University and was a member of both Phi Delta Phi and the Journal of International Law and Business as he pursued a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

In addition to spending time at home in Greenville with his wife and two sons, Padgett enjoys coaching his kids’ sports teams, as well as hunting, golfing and rooting for the Clemson Tigers.

Lee Prickett

lee-prickett-headshot_finalLee Prickett concentrates on the firm’s Business, Construction Law and Creditor’s Rights practices in the Greenville, SC office, working closely with both large and small business owners in the Greenville area and throughout the state to navigate their legal issues. This includes areas such as contract drafting and review, resolution of contract disputes, employment litigation, insurance defense, creditors’ representation during bankruptcy and collection practices.

As a construction lawyer, Lee represents general contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, equipment rental companies, insurers, owners and a variety of other businesses involved in the construction process.This includes representing clients in matters related to initial contract drafting and review, mechanic’s liens, payment bond claims, delay and acceleration claims, defective construction cases and collection matters.

Additionally, Lee handles issues related to Real Property, including the representation of lenders and mortgage servicers with eviction, foreclosure filing/servicing, litigation, loan workouts and loss mitigation services, along with disputes related to property rights.

Before gaining years of experience with a Greenville, SC based civil litigation firm, Lee served as a law clerk for the Honorable Brooks P. Goldsmith of the Sixth Judicial Circuit, as well as a Solicitor for the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit.

Lee is originally from St. Matthews, S.C., and is married with two daughters and a son. When not spending time with his family, you can find him taking advantage of the outdoor recreation the state offers, from hunting to offshore fishing.

Matthew A. Schonfeld

Matthew A. SchonfeldMatthew Schonfeld brings years of experience to HPLP’s comprehensive workers’ compensation defense practice, working with insurance carriers, employers, self-insureds, third party administrators and government entities in diverse industries of all sizes to effectively resolve claims and minimize client exposure.

He joins HPLP from a large South Carolina insurance defense firm, where he practiced exclusively in workers’ compensation defense. With a diverse background in civil and criminal litigation, Schonfeld began his legal career as a law clerk in Columbia, S.C., handling matters involving personal injury litigation, as well as workers’ compensation and criminal defense, before delivering legal solutions to long-term healthcare facilities as an associate with a Charleston, S.C.-based firm.

Schonfeld is also a former U.S. Marine Corps officer, having served as a Judge Advocate focused on criminal litigation and federal regulatory and administrative law. Acquiring hundreds of hours in court, he represented service members and the government in felony and misdemeanor jury and bench trials. He additionally fulfilled in-house counsel duties, analyzing ethical and administrative regulations, and supervised a number of complex administrative investigations. Schonfeld was awarded a Navy Commendation Medal for meritorious service as a Judge Advocate in 2012.

A South Carolina native, Schonfeld, his wife and two children have made James Island their home and enjoy visiting the local parks, crabbing and playing golf.

Rhonda Smith

Rhonda Smith is a member of HPLP’s workers’ compensation defense team in the Columbia office, representing employers, insurers and self-insureds in a wide array of industries.

Skilled at not only managing complex legal matters but also maintaining productive relationships and communication, Smith joined HPLP after first gaining considerable experience representing clients for a large Southeastern insurance defense firm. Prior to her focus on workers’ compensation defense, she worked for nearly a decade in the field of bankruptcy law.

Smith earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina-Columbia before earning a Juris Doctor at the Charlotte School of Law, where she also volunteered for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) and was a Cali award recipient for Interviewing, Counseling and Negotiations. She is a member of numerous professional and community organizations, including the South Carolina Bar Association, Richland County Bar Association, South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association and the Junior League of Columbia.

A native South Carolinian, Smith enjoys spending time on her farm with her husband and black lab as they prepare to welcome their first child in February 2017.
