Janel Myers Newell is a member of our Civil Litigation team focusing on real estate and construction matters.  In addition to being licensed in multiple states, Janel holds a real estate license in NC. She has also spent many years as an adjunct professor teaching the law at several different colleges.

As a trial attorney, Janel has dealt with a wide variety of civil and criminal matters. She also served as a Magistrate Judge in Ohio presiding over mainly civil disputes involving contract, real estate, torts and workers compensation.

Upon relocating from Ohio to South Carolina, Janel became the first female Chief Judge for the City of Spartanburg. While at the City, Janel presided over many jury and bench trials.

Janel became an avid football fan while working at the Pro Football Hall of Fame during her college days. She has 3 accomplished children who she tries to visit as often as possible. Luckily, they are each located in states that border South Carolina.
