John P. Fetner is a member of HPLP’s litigation and workers’ compensation defense team in the Columbia office, focusing on the comprehensive workers’ compensation defense needs of insurance carriers, employers, self-insureds, third party administrators and government entities throughout South Carolina.

Prior to joining HPLP, John served as managing attorney for the State of North Carolina in Charlotte with the law firm McMichael Taylor Gray, a firm focusing on foreclosure, evictions, bankruptcy, real estate transactions, and related litigation. Before McMichael Taylor Gray, John spent over ten years representing a variety of clients in real estate, foreclosure, collection, eviction, HOA, and litigation at the law firm Rogers Townsend in Columbia, South Carolina.

John earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of South Carolina. He is a member of numerous professional and community organizations, including the South Carolina Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Association, and the finance committee for the Mecklenburg County Bar Association. John formerly served on the audit committee for the Mecklenburg County Bar Association, bar convention committees for both the South Carolina and North Carolina Bar Association and was the president of the Young Professionals Affiliate of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.

A native South Carolinian, John enjoys spending time with his wife Jane, his son, and his other family in Columbia. In his free time, John can be found on Lake Murray, listening to live music, or cheering on his Gamecocks and Atlanta Braves.
