Laura L. Carter began her legal career as a staff attorney for Legal Aid Society of NW North Carolina in Winston-Salem. Laura served as the liaison with the local Hispanic associations due to her fluency in Spanish. Subsequently, Laura served as a Law Clerk assigned to Commissioner Dianne C. Sellers of the North Carolina Industrial Commission from 2002-2005. Since 2005, Laura has focused her practice to workers’ compensation defense representing employers, carriers and third-party administrators. Laura is board certified as a specialist in NC Workers’ Compensation as well as a Superior Court Certified Mediator pursuant to the NC Dispute Resolution Commission.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys traveling, reading, singing, exploring new restaurants, cooking and taking care of her dog. Laura is a Tar Heel fan even when they play her other alma mater, the University of Kentucky.
